Based on-site here in Rainhill, Prescot

Job description

Hemsec are one of the largest manufacturers of composite insulated panels in the UK. We are committed to playing a key role in improving outcomes in the industries we serve.

Everything we manufacture, either keeps cold air inside a structure, or firmly shuts it out. The world increasingly needs this capability.

Since 1928, when Cyril Hemmings founded the company to supply insulated cabinets to an enterprising ice-cream and refrigeration salesman named Bill Walker, to today, when we supply a variety of markets including SIPs for the construction industry, we have stayed true to our values.

The Pre-Sales Specialist is an important role within the commercial department, a role that pulls together a variety of data into meaningful business information and supports the sales team in generating and pre-qualifying opportunities.

The key responsibilities of this role are:

1. Lead Generation

· Identifying leads from research from Barbour/Glenigan as well as online sources or relevant media, making initial contact to find influencers, and identifying the core preconditions of a sale – Budget, Authority, Need, and Timeframe.

2. Support for Ad Hoc Sales/Customer Service Projects

· Working cross functionally on relevant sales/customer service projects, as required and directed by the Sales & Marketing Director e.g. new system implementation

3. Sales Pipeline Development

· From existing accounts and incoming enquiries, developing and maintaining an individual sales pipeline

· Keeping in regular contact with customers, identifying live and future opportunities and updating Salesforce records

· Developing opportunities through to quote and order stages

4. Account Management

· Day to day account management of pre- assigned portfolio of accounts, maintaining proactive channels of communication and providing a high level of customer service

· Internal advocacy on behalf of assigned accounts, liaising with other business functions such as Commercial Planning and Production to ensure that customer needs are met and exceeded

· Identifying risks and opportunities for assigned accounts, retaining and growing annual customer spend

· Providing regular updates (monthly/quarterly) to Head of Sales on progress of account against target spend as well as relevant opportunities/risks

· Supporting Account Managers on Strategic Accounts as a secondary, office-based contact

5. Responding to Incoming Enquiries (Phone/Email/Web/from External Lead Generation)

· Initial point of contact for all new incoming enquiries

· Logging enquiry in Salesforce and completing initial review of enquiry, in line with relevant SOPs and agreed timeframes

· For smaller enquiries, leading the customer communication from initial enquiry through quote, order and delivery

· Escalating larger enquiries to the relevant Account Manager or BDM, ensuring that all the initial information has been gathered and captured in Salesforce

6. Customer Feedback

· Central point of contact for all reactive and proactive customer feedback, positive and negative

· Handling customer complaints, logging in Salesforce and providing an initial response to the customer in a timely manner, in line with relevant SOPs

· Post sales follow-up and courtesy calls etc to ensure metrics are captured, monitored, reported, and where necessary escalated

· Identifying why leads/quotes have been won or lost to inform the commercial team on areas for improvement as well as strengths

· Working with Compliance Manager to strengthen and improve Customer Service/Feedback business processes

Meticulous maintenance of the existing CRM system is a vital part of all of the key responsibilities of this role, updating information on own workload/portfolio as well as working with the field sales team to ensure that all necessary customer and prospective customer information is captured.

Key Skills:

Time management and effective communication are key to the success of this role. Working well with the customers and prospective customers will involve communicating in ways that customers respond well to, a great deal of verbal and video conferencing communication will be required. Included in this is the timely, detailed, and accurate reporting of business information and project updates to line managers and colleagues where appropriate. We are proud to sponsor 23 mental wellbeing boxes created by UK Unplugged and support families in our local community in the North West. The 23 boxes will help 23 families promote and prioritise mental wellbeing, in a time where this has never been more crucial. UK Unplugged started as a local community group in 2019, dedicated to supporting parents and carers to balance their family time on and off screens. The group is made up of professional and student volunteers from Liverpool John Moores University, who create learning activities and experiences for families in Liverpool in the form of an activity box. Families can subscribe to the boxes on a monthly basis. UK Unplugged work to bring local, regional and international communities together to share experiences, all whilst ensuring that the activities reduce screentime and improve mental wellbeing for the families they support. In April, UK Unplugged will be working to donate their boxes to low-income families & those on the CAMHS waiting list. They have pulled together a team of Architecture students and volunteers who are creating specialised boxes and Hemsec has agreed to sponsor the creation of 23 these boxes. The boxes provide: · 10 hours of screen-free fun · Education on new ideas and cultures · They are accessible & eco-friendly This year UK Unplugged – Architecture box are focusing on Sustainability and diversity; the boxes will educate families on different living spaces and sustainable choices around the world. Last Friday, (15 th March 2024) we welcomed students of digital built environment, architecture, and built environment skills from Riverside College Widnes & Runcorn and Cronton Sixth Form College to our Huyton SIPs panel factory. Students enjoyed an informative morning learning about SIPs And getting hands-on with our panels to help inform their studies. The students received a talk from Dan Haworth , Head of Manufacturing, and a factory tour, followed by round table speed meetings with staff from all areas of the business. They also had the unique opportunity to get hands-on with building miniature SIP Panel structures. And to add a little extra fun, we set up a bit of friendly competition with a structural design challenge with custard creams! Because why not? SIPs panels and custard creams are distant cousins, after all! We're looking forward to hosting more students and future construction talent in the future.

Through a spirited raffle, the company successfully raised an impressive £1000 for The Big Help Project . What is The Big Help Project? The Big Help Project was set up with the mission to feed the hungry, overcome poverty, free people from the burden of unmanageable personal debt, help people into affordable housing, and to assist people onto a better future. For over ten years Big Help Project has formed a social impact eco-system, providing on-the-ground wrap-around services to make sure nobody is left in crisis. Every day of the week Big Help Project is making a difference and helping people break the cycle of poverty. So far, the project has helped thousands of people across the UK — but they still have a lot of ground to cover. That’s where local businesses like Hemsec, our customers, suppliers and partners come into the picture.
